Stavanger: Rich in culture, nature and activities

When you stay at Best Western Havly Hotel, you are right in the center of Stavanger with a short distance to many attractions. The Stavanger region is a mixture of magnificent nature, colourful culture and great culinary experiences.

Stavanger's best restaurants and nightlife scene are just around the corner, and both shopping malls and pleasant downtown shops offer everything you may wish for.

The Valberg Tower is our closest neighbour. The tower was built in the years 1850-1853 as a lookout tower for the city's watchmen and is 26.66 meters high. From the Valberg tower, the guards had an overview of the whole city as far as the settlement stretched at that time. You will also find points of interests such as the colourful street Fargegaten, the Oil Museum, the Cathedral and Old Stavanger in the immediate vicinity of the hotel.

The Pulpit Rock is Rogaland's most famous attraction and if you have the time and opportunity,
both a trip here and a visit to Old Stavanger are almost mandatory experiences.

The Pulpit Rock

The Pulpit Rock is Rogaland's most famous attraction and natural wonder. In 2011, the 604-meter-high mountain plateau ranked 1st on the list "Top 50 Natural Wonders" by CNN International Interactive, and has also been named one of the world's 10 most spectacular vantage points by Lonely Planet. It is a 1.5 to 2 hours walk on foot from the starting point Preikestolhytta to the top of the plateau.

Old Stavanger

Old Stavanger consists of 173 wooden houses that were built in the late 1700s and early 1800s. This charming part of the city was during the herring period inhabited by the many workers in the herring industry. Old Stavanger is the city’s soul, and we recommend everyone to take a stroll through the narrow, crooked and cobblestoned streets.
